Akemi Solloway Visit and Cultural Lecture

Akemi Solloway, teacher and lecturer of Japanese language and culture (and daughter of an old Samurai family) will be visiting NAMsoc to give give lectures and presentations on several topics relating to both Japan and Anime.

Akemi will be doing a presentation on Bushido (the way of the Samurai) and also discussing the role of women in Japanese society as well as the way they participate and are depicted in traditional and modern arts (such as anime). Finally, if time allows, Akemi will be looking at how costume design in anime and manga is influenced by Japanese traditional Culture.

The event is free and everyone is welcome so please bring your friends.

Times: 7pm - 10pm Tuesday 4th November, Dunkirk and Old Lenton Community Center
