Written by Rob Anastasi on Monday, 02 June 2008 The next Namsoc Bonfire Party will be on Saturday 14th from 4pm at Beeston Sailing Club, and will feature a bbq, licenced bar, music and, of course a bonfire! Tickets are £4, include hot food (feel free to bring your own snacks though), and are available at Namsoc and EMAG. There are a few tickets left over, so it is possible to pay on the day. Turn up anytime from 4pm, we're planning to start the bbq at 6pm, and the fire at around 9pm (or when it's dark enough). You are welcome to stay the night, if you plan to then please bring your own sleeping bag, etc. and do not sleep in the bar area - there's plenty of space elsewhere, or if you like you can bring a tent. Please note that due to the terms of the licence you cannot bring your own alcoholic drinks (soft drinks are fine). Most drinks (pints of bitter or lager, bottles of cider, cocktails, etc.) will be £1.50, with any profit going to Namsoc. If you do not wish to bring cash pre-pay vouchers are on sale at Namsoc and EMAG. Directions to the sailing club can be found here If you have any questions then feel free to ask in this thread on the forums.

Written by Ian Richards on Friday, 25 April 2008 Soon we enter the very merry month of May and will be having one or two fun social events.
Firstly on May 10th we have the monthly Saturday showing, this month is another Games event so practice your button mashing. We will be starting slightly earlier than usual this month and running from 10am through till 2pm. price is as usual
On the 11th of may (yes thats the day after the Saturday showing) is a movie trip to see the new film Vexille Directed by Fumihiko Sori (Ping Pong), co-written by Sori and Haruka Handa (Appleseed), and featuring the vocal talents of Meisa Kuroki (One Missed Call) and Akio Otsuka (Ghost In The Shell), the epic VEXILLE is a stunningly realized production that takes CG imagery and animated photo-realism to a never-before-seen level of brilliance. An action-packed, vividly rendered fantasy adventure featuring a pair of heroines who prove that the girls can kick butt just as hard as the boys, VEXILLE’s mind-blowing visuals are further enhanced by the accompaniment of a pounding musical score by international DJ Paul Oakenfold (who also scored Appleseed) and tracks by artists such as Basement Jaxx, DJ Shadow, Underworld, Asian Dub Foundation, the Prodigy, Boom Boom Satellites, Dead Can Dance and M.I.A. Time for this is to be confirmed and depends which cinemas are showing it
In addition on a date yet to be confirmed I hope we can go see the new Speed Racer Movie but for that we will have to wait and see. Hoping to see you all there IanR
