Mmmm, I'm not too impressed myself. It's pretty much a full-on cliched mix of high school "drama" (unrequited love, cliques, clubs, archetypes etc.), magic chi fighting (which throws out any kind of sense), and fetish/sex fuel. It's a shame, really, the characters are (currently) 1 dimensional and it's a laughable attempt at "plot". I don't foresee myself highly enjoying this series.

I'm laying on the criticism here; but it is basically for fans, and for me, doesn't contain enough enjoyable originality to get past that. Oh well!

I'm going to be very surprised if they can mess up a opening setup over 2 episodes they'll get any better over the other ones, but we'll see.

Well, if you want an idea of level, during it's time it was pitched against Ikki Tousen

Out of the two personally I found Tenge to have a better plot development (you're going to have a fairly big chunk of background plot thrown at you later), but don't get me wrong it's no Godfather when it comes to intellectual plot.
Try to enjoy it as a shounen action story and don't sweat the plot too much. The opening credits sum the series up for me; fun and kinda cool with some pretty sweet moves sometimes

Wasn't that impressed with the first 2 episodes of what seems to be fanservicey fighting anime version2.whocares, but I'll give it a chance since Phill mentioned that apparently the fanservice drops off later on and hopefully the fightscenes will get better as well. (Not going to judge on the first fightscene too much since it was a 1 sided beatdown to pretty much say "ooh look how strong this character is", so it's bound to be uninteresting)

As for enjoying fighting Anime, well, it's nice if there are likeable, non-1-dimensional characters is all (we'll give the plot a miss, most don't go beyond "Fight this group of people linear in power until you beat the final boss", heh). Fights are fine, but I might as well go watch rounds from Street Fighter if I want good pure skilled 2d fighting, hehe

From what I'm getting from the first 2 episodes, it's not bad, but it's not brilliant either. I'll continue watching it and see what happens, but I'm not holding my breath for something amazing.

Not the worst series we've watched though, so we should be fine.

The second week was better.

Sounds like something that needs to develop before we can make much of a judgement so Ill be willing to give it a few more weeks at least before deciding how much I like it.

Well, I dunno about you, but I've was pleasently surprised by episode 12, having only seen up to episode 11 before. Bunshichi Tawara's motorcycle chase and subsequent "hulking out" was both funny and unexpectedly awesome.
