Totally slapstick police comedy, and thankfully doesn't force the necessary drama into the over the top stuff going on Likeable characters too, with no total utter jerkwads which most comedies have (usually the foil for others jokes - here it seems almost everyone gets a punchline now and again).

This is what the god-awful Rowan Atkinson comedy The Thin Blue Line could have potentially have been!

All hail mini-motorbike chases, souped up cars, mad dreams set in the Edo period etc. etc!

Only thing that is a bit wearing is the overuse of crossdressing jokes. Poor Aoi hardly gets anything decent to do except being felt up by men. I groan whenever that happens.
