Does anyone else watch Jap live action films as well as anime? I started watching them around the same time i got into anime and there are some awesome ones out there, most of the ones ive seen are samurai movies but im sure there are others out there that are just as good anyway heres my list so far.

Zatoichi - comedy samurai film about a blind sword master, amazingly hilarious film, also quite gory in places.

Battle Royale 1&2 - Brilliant films the first based on the novel and the second is a follow up 3 years later. Dosnt have as much background story as the manga and novel but still well worth watching. For anyone who hasnt seen or heard of battle royale before, EXTREMELY gory.

The Hidden Blade - Another samurai movie, more of a romance film than the traditional samurai movie but a good film none the less.

Shogun - Okay it isnt a jap film it's an english TV series based on the novel of the same name but it's still a great show. Set in the sengoku jidai (warring states) period about an englishman who sails to japan and gets caught up in the politics there. Lots of historical references.

Kagemusha - About a homeless man who gets taken to serve as a double for one of the japanese warlords during the sengoku jidai period thats about all i remember as it was ages ago that i watched it xD.

Memoirs of a Geisha - yes its an american film but dont let that fool you this film is one of the most beautiful ive seen in ages set just before and leading into the japanese involvement in WW2 about a young girl taken to live in a geisha house.

Theres my recomendations =D has anyone else seen any good Japanese live action films?

Azumi

"After the Battle of Sekigahara, a samurai is tasked by the Tokugawa shogunate to raise a band of assassins to finish off Toyotomi's allies and other ambitious warlords, to prevent another civil war.

Azumi (played by Aya Ueto) is discovered as a 7–8 year old girl kneeling without visible emotion next to the body of her dead mother by the samurai master Gessai, played by Yoshio Harada, and his entourage of young students. Azumi is raised in the martial skills of samurai and shinobi sword fighting, and the art of assassination. Azumi and her fellow classmates, now at young adult age, are constantly being told about a "mission" they must accomplish, though they have no idea what this mission is yet."
