Know I can engage at least one person in talking about this

Just finished watching the last ep on this one, and I'll say I was actually pretty impressed with it considering my indifference to the original macross.
Mecha design and CG quality is obviously top notch, but I wasn't too taken with the character animations. As Ty says, it's probably just a style I'm not particular to

As for the ending, I'd read a lot of fanboys were up in arms over it, but I'd probably say it's one of the most enjoyable endings I've seen in a long while.
Comments are that the just announced movie will be to finish the story off, but I don't really think it needs it.
Thoughts from those who have seen it?
