This thread is for discussion of the new series 1 "Gurren Lagann". Please post comments, worksafe images and general triva. For those who have seen the series before, please refrain from posting spoilers until the relevant episode has been shown; we don't want to spoil it for the others now do we? Especially given how, well awesome this series is.

yep, the daily telegraph ran a competition for potential new union jack designs, as whales isn't included. Several anime suggestions, but the overall winner was that one. The designer was VERY upfront about where it came from, qouting lines from the series several times. Twas Gurren Lagann.

Exactly how it ended up on that tank is unknown, except to say Gurren Lagann has acheived full blown meme status. An anime news networks article on it is here and a good vidclip here.

Not as far as I'm concerned I was expecting it to be good, but enjoyed the first couple of eps a lot more than I thought I would.
