Since obtaining the whole series on DVD and doing away with my fansubs, I've now started watching the original Dirty Pair TV show, and despite the show's age and the fact it's a subtitled-only release, it's still good fun, and the duo and Kei and Yuri are hard to beat.

I'm also planning on watching Ninja Resurrection sometime this week. I bought it at the social for £3 if only because of how bad I've heard it is. Well, we'll soon see about that. >

I know it hasn't started airing yet but from next week I will defiantly be watching Deadman Wonderland! I been in love with the manga for over 2 years now!

Theres also Hitman Reborn, Kuroshitsuji s2 and DMC. Got 1 more episode of Tales of Symphonia to go through. If you dislike Tale of the Abyss I wouldnt reccomend the rest of the 'Tales of...' animes.

I got through a couple more Sonoda-involved works the other night: Wanna-Be's and Riding Bean. Wanna-Be's was a major dissapointment, whilst watching Riding Bean again just made me realize how desperate I am for a Gunsmith Cats TV show. Also, I finally got to watch it subbed after watching the incredibly awkward dub for all these years, and by no surprise, it's better.

Now I really should back to Hyper Police and make a start on Nadia: The Secret of Blue Water sometime...

So yeah, after a month or so, I've finally started Nadia, and it's pretty amazing. It's a bit dated (1989), but it's up to GAINAX's usual high standard, and only after four episodes I'm already craving for more.

I've gone back to some of my old stuff for the moment. As of now I'm (re)watching Otogi Zoshi, Saikano and Kujibiki Unbalance.

I still adore the Heian arc of Otogi Zoshi (set in 9th century Japan). The storytelling is very much in the simple-but-solid style of a Lord of the Rings legend. The characters are noble, heroic and larger than life, from the "womanizing soldier with the heart of gold"/Han Solo (Sadamitsu) to the wide-eyed young hero/Luke Skywalker (Hikaru).

The modern-day arc on the other hand is watchable, but not the series that I know and love. Taking a classic historical tale and running a ghost-story/mystery arc in modern-day Tokyo is fun, but is too far removed from the Heian drama which, for me, was the reason to purchase the series.

I also have to note the particularly awesome extra's on this series. On each DVD, there are a series of lectures from a Tokyo University Professor of Heian-era (9th century Japan) history. These lectures explain the cultures, fashions, rituals and social duties of the characters and the time, the real-life figure of Minamoto no Yorimitsu and his retainers on whom Hikaru and the other central characters are based.

Oh dear,it must have been years since I last visit this forum (and Namsoc for that matter),life has been busy.

I've got to say I've not watched any of the new series for the last couple of years, but I have been keeping up with One Piece, Naruto, Bleach and Detective Conan. And I'm feeling quite proud for owning almost every single subbed episodes out there. ^_^

One Piece: up to episode 501
Naruto Shippuuden: up to episode 215
Bleach: up to episode 325
Detective Conan: up to episode 619

Finally completed Nadia. Brilliant series despite NHK's effort's to screw it up with filler episodes, but when it came to the episodes that mattered, they were some of the most enjoyable I've experienced in an anime in ages, and the ending was as good as I expected it to be. Will be writing a full review for the site soon, and it's one I definitely recommend, as long as you skip the filler entirely.

And then after that I watched the Nadia movie...I need to invent some new swear words just to describe that abomination. A review will be written for that as well, but it won't be pretty.

Next up on my to-watch list: Gunbuster 2!
