I couldn't have been the only one aware of E3 this week, and I want to know what everyone thought about the new games and hardware on offer. Excited for the Wii U or the PSVita? Looking forward to the next Halo or Mario? Share your thoughts.
Personally, I thought the show was possibly one of the most underwhelming in recent memory. There was once a time when E3 was the home of surprise game announcements, but this year didn't do much for me. I'm hugely skeptical about the Wii U and Sony's new portable didn't really grab me, although Microsoft deserves an award for possibly the worst conference I can remember. Two hours of Kinect and Halo 4, a game that even Halo fanboys are rebelling against? Well done.
As for upcoming games, I'm super-psyched about the "Zone of the Enders HD Collection" coming next year and I urge everyone to buy 10 copies upon release in order to send Konami the message that we NEED a ZOE3 (or ZO3, if we're going by current sequel titling trends). Mass Effect 3 looks brilliant as expected, but no announcement of Persona 5? Sad face.
Biggest surprise definitely goes to the new Tomb Raider, though. I've NEVER been a Tomb Raider fan, but after seeing an extended demo of the game on Gamespot (which is worth checking-out, by the way), I can honestly say the game looks AMAZING. The change in direction was a smart choice, and for a game still over a year away from completion, it's looking very, VERY good.
I'm more then happy to give me other thoughts, but for now I think I've covered the gist of what I wanted to say. That and I'm getting a bit tired typing this.
