Just renewing the Amecon thread:

AmeCon is the largest convention in the United Kingdom dedicated to the celebration of Japanese animation, comics and culture. Following some successful one-day events, several committee members of the Leicester Anime and Manga Club (LANMA - http://www.lanma.org.uk) decided to run a small, residential event in 2004. This event, through no fault of their own, became the largest anime convention to be hosted in the British Isles at that time.

In 2006, AmeCon moved from Oldby to the main University of Leicester Campus and has been hosted there ever since. In the following years, we've introduced various events to almost 1300 attendees, including the Cosplay Triathlon and the UK's first convention-based cosplay ball. Since moving to the main campus, AmeCon has continued to build upon its previous events, and this year is no exception

AmeCon 2008 will be running between 8-10 August 2008. You can find out further information on the website, or register today on the forum to discuss the convention or anime/manga fandom in general, ask questions or make suggestions for the convention.

Now that we're in the new year its time to look towards this years conventions.

I know we have quite a few members attending Amecon and I think it would be pretty cool if as a society we could manage a group cosplay.

So any ideas which series we should chose?

I know I'm going to sound like I'm kicking this one in the balls, before it's had a chance, but we've said that for the past two years, and unless responsibility is taken (and I don't mean by a single person), it's not going to happen.

Now, consider this. I think it's safe to say that the only anime everyone likes, is Azumanga. The scary part is, we're 2/3rds guys, who probably wouldn't consider crossplaying, before we get some confidence in normal cosplay.

Now, what are the chances?

it's a good idea, but Phil is right. The hard part will be finding a series we all like and has characters each of us could cosplay. I would be up for it, my list of cosplays is kinda full right now neways xD

In a pre-meet pub discussion yesterday an idea was germinated.

How about we Cosplay Seele from EVA?

this is a fairly simple costume design and has the added advantage of full anonimity

Ame are short on people to help with the get in and I'd like to help them out. If you are available on Thursday 7th or the morning of Friday 8th and could help with shifting stuff and setting up could you let me know please.

If anyone finds themselve short of transport I have a space (or two) available in my car
